On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, the Aurora University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted the 22nd annual AU Project Linus initiative. Led by SAAC President Olivia Buzzelli, the group set an ambitious goal of making 150 blankets—the highest target in the event's history.
This year's initiative was a resounding success, with Aurora University student-athletes and members of the campus community coming together in Thornton Gymnasium to create a record-breaking 155 blankets. These handmade blankets will be donated to pediatric patients at Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital and the Waterford Place Cancer Resource Center in Aurora, Illinois
"As student-athletes, we are fortunate to have the opportunities we do, and giving back to the community is something we take pride in," said Buzzelli. "Project Linus has become a meaningful tradition for AU athletics, and this year, we came together to make a record-breaking 155 blankets for children in need. It's incredible to see our teams unite for something bigger than sports, and I'm proud to be part of a group that values making a difference."
Project Linus' mission is to provide love, security, warmth, and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or in need through the gift of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly crafted by volunteer "blanketeers."
