Spartans Wrap Regular Season Of Indoor At Slick Invite

The Aurora University Women's Track and Field team competed in the F. Lee Slick Invitational hosted by North Central College in Naperville, Ill.

The Spartans competed well on the track and in the field, scoring many heat wins and setting many personal bests.

Lauren Bliefernicht had an explosive showing in the sprints, racing the 60-meter and 200-meter. She finished third in the 60-meter, tying her personal record of 7.86s. She followed that up with a fifth place finish in the 200-meter in 25.78s.

Keyara Bailey jumped her way to a third place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.54m. She also competed in the long jump, where she jumped 4.79m for a 16th place finish.

Aurora's milers had a big day with nearly everyone running a personal record. Mika Fields and N'Dya Fields were Aurora's top finishers, both running 5:30.09 and tying for seventh place overall. The time was a personal record for Mika, who won her heat. Susana Martinez and Emma Jasutis followed close behind, running 5:35.82 and 5:35.84, respectively. Both of those were personal record efforts. August Pautsch also ran a personal record of 5:58.29.

Ari Mack ran 1:02.84 in the 400-meter, finishing in sixth place.

Marisa Janecek finished ninth in the shot put with a throw of 9.87m. Paige Chapin followed close behind in eleventh place, throwing 9.78m. Paola Vargas also finished well in the weight throw, finishing tenth with a personal best mark of 10.99m.

Up next, the Spartans will compete in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championship at University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, WI on Friday, February 28.
