Spartans Kick Off Florida Trip WIth Big Win

The Aurora University baseball team picked up their first win of the 2025 season when they traveled to Davenport, Florida for their first game of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational against Anderson University (IN). Backed by five home runs from the Spartans, including two from Tyler Patton, AU got out to an easy 26-4 win in seven innings.

The Basics

How it happened
- In the top of the first, a Logan Riley ground out scored Joe Lukancic, after he led off the game with a double.
- Two batters latter, Will Sevier hit a sac-fly, before Tyler Patton blasted a three-run homer over the left field wall.

- In the top of the third, AU crushed back-to-back-to-back home runs, starting with a three-run blast from Sevier that scored Brayden Gorecki and Ryan Buck.
- Patton then smoked his second homer of the game, this time going the opposite way, making it 9-1 in favor of AU.
- Dominick Curcio then put one over the center field wall for the Spartans third-straight homer, giving them a 10-1 lead.
- In the top of the fifth, Jaden Holgado singled to left and scored Brody Mac and Curcio.
- That AU lead became 14-2 later in the fifth following a Buck RBI ground out and Gorecki double.
- The Spartans tacked on four more in the sixth, which included RBI singles from Buck and Riley.
- Spencer Ruch also had an RBI single in the sixth, which helped give AU an 18-1 lead.
- Anderson scored three runs in their half of the sixth to cut the Spartan lead to 18-4.
