The Aurora University Men's Track and Field team competed on Friday and Saturday with a partial squad in the Chicagoland Outdoor Championships hosted by Elmhurst University in Elmhurst, IL.
Armando Acosta had an impressive weekend. On Friday, he took on the 1,500-meter field and placed second in his heat in a school record time of 3:58.81. His effort earned him a ninth place finish overall. He followed up this speedy performance with a new season best of 1:54.69 in the 800-meter on Saturday. He took third place in a close race, which saw the top four finishers separated by less than a second.
Cris Valencia competed in the 10,000-meter, placing fifth in 32:44.57.
Up next, the Spartans will compete in the Wheaton Classic at Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL on Saturday, April 12.
