Spartans Rebound Big In Game Two Of Doubleheader At St. Norbert

The Aurora University softball team traveled to St. Norbert College on Saturday afternoon for another Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader in De Pere, Wisconsin, with the Spartans completing their road trip. AU fell in game one by a score of 7-4, but came back big with an 11-2 win over the Green Knights in five innings in game two of the twin bill.

How it happened
Game One
- Nina Richards drove in Mia Rivera with a sac-fly in the top-of-the first to give AU the early 1-0 lead.
- The Spartans hung on to that lead until the bottom-of-the third, when the St. Norbert offense erupted for five runs to take a 5-1 lead.
- The Green Knights added a run to their lead in the fourth to make it 6-1.
- AU showed fight in the top-of-the sixth with a rally, as a Lily Komperda double scored Mia Malczyk.
- Later in the sixth, AU trimmed their deficit to 6-3 on an Alex Thiel sac-fly.
- Kayla Korey made it 6-4 later in the inning with an RBI single.
- St. Norbert got one back in the sixth to help them knock off the Spartans by a score of 7-4.

Game Two
- Stephani DeBise started a five-run outburst for the AU offense in the top-of-the first with an RBI double.
- Nina Richards scored on a past ball before Angie Delgado ripped an RBI single to give AU a 3-0 lead.
- The Spartans didn't stop there in the first, taking a 5-0 lead by way of a Green Knights error and Lily Komperda single.
- A Richards ground out and DeBise RBI single gave AU a 7-0 lead in the second. 
- St. Norbert got one back in their half of the second, but the Spartans answered back with two more in the fourth from another Richards two-run double.
- The Green Knights scored another in their half of the fourth to trim their deficit to 9-2.
- An Aubrey Ortiz sac-fly and Mia Rivera RBI single in the top-of-the fifth helped the Spartans cruise to the 11-2 victory in five innings.
- Madelyn Buske finished off the Green Knights in fifth, ending her day of five innings pitched in the complete game with two runs given up, one of which was earned.
