The Aurora University Women's Track and Field team competed on Friday and Saturday with a partial squad in the Chicagoland Outdoor Championships hosted by Elmhurst University in Elmhurst, IL.
Deedee Colon Maldonado competed hard, earning a pair of runner-up finishes. On Friday, she placed second in the 1,500-meter in a season best time of 4:31.91. This currently puts her at sixth in the nation in the event. She came back on Saturday to compete in the 3,000-meter, where she raced tough, again placing second in 9:41.16. Her time is a new school record. She broke her previous record by 17 seconds.
The Spartans had a strong contingent of 10,000-meter runners compete on Friday. August Pautsch, Natalie Flores, and Isabella Encinas all competed well, finishing fifth, seventh, and ninth, respectively.
