Deedee Colon Maldonado (women's track) and
Steven Tinsley (men's field) have been named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Outdoor Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of March 31-April 6, 2025, as selected by the league's athletics communications professionals.
Women's Track --- Deedee Colon Maldonado
Colon Maldonado, a senior from Aurora, Illinois, finished runner-up in two events at the Chicagoland Championships over the weekend. In both events she was the top Division III finisher. On April 4, she ran 4:31.91 in the 1,500, which leads the NACC by more than 12 seconds and ranks her eighth in Division III. The following day, she ran 9:41.16 in the 3,000. This is a new Aurora record by 17 seconds, and is the 12th fastest outdoor 3000-meter run in NCAA Division III history. The honor is the seventh indoor and outdoor in 2025 for Colon Maldonado.
Men's Track --- Armando Acosta
Acosta, a sophomore from Aurora, Illinois, set a new Aurora record in the 1,500-meter run at the Chicagoland Championships with his time of 3:58.81. He followed that performance with a third-place finish in the 800. Acosta's 800 time of 1:54.69 currently tops the NACC performance list by nearly two seconds.
Men's Field --- Steven Tinsley
Tinsley, a senior from Coconut Creek, Florida, competed in three events at the Viking Olympics on April 5. He won the shot put with a throw of 15.44 meters (50-8), then took runner-up honors in the discus throw with a new NACC-leading mark of 49.73 meters (163-2). That throw leads all NACC competitors by nearly five meters. He also finished fourth in the hammer throw with a mark of 49.90 meters (163-8). Tinsley now leads the NACC performance list in all three events and ranks 12th on NACC Division III performance list in the discus.
Next scheduled action for the Spartan track and field teams comes Saturday, April 12 at the Wheaton College Classic in Wheaton, Illinois.
