Aurora University men's and women's volleyball were honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) who announced the over 1,400 teams that earned the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2024-2025 season. This year's recognition marks the 10th consecutive year for AU women's volleyball and the fourth straight year for AU men's volleyball earning the academic distinction.
During the 2024-2025 academic year, the AU women had a 3.65 team grade point average and 17 Spartans were previously honored by the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) and Aurora University as scholar-athletes for their achievements in the classroom while the AU men had a 3.45 team grade point average and 19 Spartans earned NACC and AU scholar-athlete recognition.
The AVCA academic award, initiated in the 1992-1993 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
