Spartans sink Raiders in NACC showdown

The Aurora University men's basketball team hosted an important Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match-up on Saturday afternoon with the Raiders of Milwaukee School of Engineering. The Spartans shot the lights out and dominated the Raiders in a 114-74 victory.

How it happened
- The Spartans would lead wire to wire in the contest with Devon Richardson setting the tone early with a bucket.
- With the game knotted 9-9, Mekhi Doby took over, scoring five points in a 9-0 AU run.
- The three ball then started falling for AU as Isaiah Thompson and Zerrick Johnson drained from beyond the arc to extend the Spartans lead to double-digits.
- Back to back possessions with dunks from Jeffery Hillmer and Devon Richardson brought the home crowd to its feet and the home Thornton Gymnasium was rocking.
- AU went to halftime leading 49-35.
- Richardson had 17 in the first-half while Doby had 13.
- As well as AU shot the ball in the first-half (56.7%), the second-half only got better.
- Leading 63-48 with 14:08 to play, AU went on a 25-6 run and led by 34 (88-54).
- Josh Tinney and Bryden Gryzmala came off the bench and when Gryzmala drained a three, free high-fives were all around as AU surpassed 100-points.
- The Spartans would go on to win 114-74 with 13 AU players scoring in the contest and 18 players seeing minutes.
