The Aurora University Men's Track and Field team competed at the IWU Coach Shoe Invitational at Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday. The Spartans placed fourth in the nine team field with a score of 35. Illinois Wesleyan won the meet with 176 points.

Armando Acosta won the 3,000-meter race, finishing in a time of 8:57.70. He got out to an aggressive start, completing his first 200-meter circuit in 33 seconds, and then proceeded to hold onto his lead the entire race. He won by 13 seconds.

The Men's 4x400-meter relay team of
Joshua Beechler,
Ayden McGill,
Henry Beyer, and MeKhii Morris-Heron placed third in 3:35.89.

James Marompon earned a third place finish in the pole vault, clearing 3.81m. Sir Emmett Lee-Nelson also scored in the event, placing fifth with a mark of 3.50m.

Joshua Beechler finished third in the 200-meter in 23.64s. Freshman
Caleb Burgins was close behind, crossing in 23.93s for sixth place.

Jahrel Rimpel and
Ethan Taylor scored in the 60-meter dash, placing fifth and seventh, respectively.

Up next, the Spartans will host the Aurora Grand Prix at Gately Indoor Track and Field in Chicago. The meet will take place on January 24th at 11:00 AM.
