The Aurora University Men's Track and Field team competed in the Chicagoland Indoor Championships hosted by North Central College on Saturday. The Spartans competed well in the unscored meet, setting multiple top 10 marks in school history and achieving many personal bests.
Armando Acosta won the Mile in 4:16.01. He finished a full second ahead of the runner-up, using his strong kick to pull away from his competitors in the final lap. His time is a new school record, breaking his previous record of 4:19.24 from his sophomore year.
The 4x400-Meter Relay team of
Joshua Beechler,
Henry Beyer,
Ayden McGill, and MeKhii Morris-Heron ran hard to place third in 3:28.13. They are now third in school history in the event.
Sir Emmett-Lee Nelson cleared a personal best mark of 3.83m in the pole vault to place tenth in the event.
Up next, the Spartans will compete at the F. Lee Slick Invitational hosted by North Central College. The meet will take place on February 20th at 4 PM.
