Aurora University Athletics in conjunction with BSN Sports proudly announces the recipients of the BSN Spartan Athletes of the Week award. The honors are earned based on the student-athletes performances on their respective playing surface the previous week.

This week's honors go to AU student-athletes, senior Alexis Janiak and junior Genesis Ramirez of women's wrestling and junior SJ Nelson of men's volleyball.

Alexis Janiak, women's wrestling - 
Janiak earned the honor after she had another strong performance on the national stage for AU women's wrestling at the 2026 NCAA Women's Wrestling Championship.  Janiak finished second in the 131-bracket despite tying 5-5 through regulation in the national championship match. The decision for the winner came down to multiple layers of criteria. Despite not having the criteria fall in her favor, the 2025 National Champion had yet another impressive performance at the top level of competition.

Genesis Ramirez, women's wrestling - 
Ramirez earned the honor after she had an impressive performance on the national stage for AU women's wrestling at the 2026 NCAA Women's Wrestling Championship. Ramirez finished third in the 103-bracket, coming back through the bracket with three impressive performances against ranked opponents on the tournaments final day. Ramirez won 11-8 over No. 3, 4-3 over No. 7 and 6-5 over No. 5 ranked wrestlers on her way to the third-place finish..

SJ Nelson, men's volleyball - 
Nelson earned the honor after he led Aurora to a pair of big wins, both on the road 3-2 wins over Benedictine and #7 UC Santa Cruz in California. Nelson had 36 kills, 3.6 per set with 17 in the win over Benedictine and 19 in the win over Santa Cruz. He added three aces on the week and collected a double-double against Benedictine when he added 16 digs.
