Acosta nearly breaks school record in 1,500 at Chicagloand Outdoor

The Aurora University Men's Track and Field team competed in the Chicagoland Outdoor Championships hosted by Elmhurst University in Elmhurst, IL this weekend. The meet began with the throwing events on Thursday, followed by the rest of the field events, as well as running events, on Friday and Saturday.
 
Armando Acosta had a great showing on the track on Friday, placing sixth in the 1,500-Meter in 3:54.48, nearly breaking his own school record of 3:54.28. He then came back on Saturday to place sixth again in the 800-Meter in a strong time of 1:54.27.
 
Anthony Salinas earned a sixth place finish in the Javelin throw with a mark of 44.59m.
 
James Marompon finished 11th in the Pole Vault, clearing 3.88m.
 
Freshman Jaxson Foster finished second in his heat of the 100-Meter in 11.34s.
 
Up next, the Spartans will compete in the Wheaton "Don Church" Twilight Meet hosted by Wheaton College in Wheaton, Il. The meet will take place on Saturday, April 18.
