Stevens Coach of the Year honor leads Spartans on NACC postseason honors

The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) announced the 2026 Baseball All-Conference Team and postseason awards. AU Head Coach Adam Stevens and his coaching staff received the NACC's Coaching Staff of the Year honor. 10 Spartans were named as All-Conference recipients, six First-Team and one Second-Team All-Conference and three Honorable Mention members.

Under the direction of 12th-year head coach Adam Stevens, posted a 28-12 record overall during the regular season and won its fourth NACC title in six years with a 20-4 mark.

It is the Spartan's fifth NACC title overall (2012, 2021-23, 2026).

Aurora has been one of the top top progams offensively this season, ranking second out of nearly 400 NCAA Division III programs nationally in doubles (108), third in hits (507) and batting average (.368), ninth in slugging percentage (.542), 16th in runs scored (404), 18th in scoring (10.1), and 24th in on-base percentage (.447).

The Spartans also sport the NACC's top fielding percentage (.965), and ranks second in the league in WHIP (1.57), strikeout-to-walk ratio (1.92), strikeouts per nine innings (7.8), home runs (39), and third in earned run average (5.17) and sacrifice flies (21).

Stevens also earned his 600th career victory with a 20-6 victory over Wheaton (Ill.) on April 28.

Stevens is assisted by Carter TurnquistSteve MogaZack Skog, and Nick Baldassano.

This is the fifth time overall that the Aurora staff has been recognized by its peers and the fourth time in six years that Stevens or a Stevens-led staff has been recognized (2021-2023, 2026). Shaun Neitzel shared the 2012 honor with Dominican's Steve Hardman.

NACC All-Conference
NACC First-Team All-Conference selections went to senior catcher Tyler Patton, senior outfielder Ryan Buck, junior pitcher Conner Hogan, junior infielder Joe Lukancic, junior designated hitter Zack Tarrant and freshman outfielder Isaac Goddard. Second-Team All-Conference honors went to sophomore infielder Matthew Washington while senior pitcher Edgar Barba, senior infielder Kyle Mack and junior pitcher Drew Piaskowy were named to Honorable Mention All-Conference.

Lukancic is hitting .486 which is second in Division III and has a Division III leading and AU single season record of 86 hits. He adds 14 doubles, three triples and one home run, 39 runs batted in and 61 runs scored while slugging .616 and an on-base of .531. Hogan is currently 9-2 overall on the season with a 3.18 earned run average in 73-2/3 innings pitched, striking out 66 and adding a shutout and one save. Patton is hitting .362 with 13 home runs and 19 doubles while driving in 63 runs and scoring 41 runs. He has a .783 slugging and .401 on-base. Buck is hitting .366 with 15 doubles and five home runs with 42 runs batted in and 41 runs scored. Tarrant is hitting .403 with 13 doubles, four home runs, 49 runs batted and 45 runs scored. Goddard is hitting .395 with seven doubles, five home runs, 37 runs scored and 35 runs batted in.

Washington is hitting .348 with eight doubles, two triples, one home run, 41 runs scored, 37 runs batted in.

Mack landed the NACC Honorable Mention honor with a .370 with 15 doubles, two home runs, 42 runs batted in and 49 runs scored. Barba is currently 5-1 overall on the season with a 3.40 earned run average in 42-1/3 innings pitched, striking out 47. Piaskowy is currently 6-0 overall on the season with a 3.67 earned run average in 54 innings pitched, striking out 48.

Next scheduled action for the Spartan baseball team comes on Thursday, May 7 when they play in the 2026 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament. First pitch of the tournament game is set for 7:00 p.m. against an opponent to be determined at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois.
