Aurora University Athletics in conjunction with BSN Sports proudly announces the inaugural recipients of the BSN Spartan Athletes of the Week award. The honors are earned based on the student-athletes performances on their respective playing surface the previous week.

This week's honors go to AU senior women's golfer Anna Simpson and freshman football athlete Jamari Mckay.

Anna Simpson, senior, women's golf - 
Simpson earned the award after she had a strong week for the Spartans. She finished in a four-way tie for medalist honors at the Benedictine Fall Invitational, sharing the honor with three teammates after shooting a 1-over-par 73. Simpson shared honors as the the top-placing Spartan at the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Invitational, posting a 36-hole score of 155 (77-78) to tie for 19th place with seven others,

Jamari Mckay - freshman, football - 
Mckay earned the award after he blocked a pair of kicks in Aurora's 29-28 loss at Concordia Wisconsin, returning both for scores. The first block came on a field goal try late in the second quarter, which he returned 86 yards for the Spartans' first touchdown of the day. The second block came on a PAT try late in the contest, which he returned 89 yards for a defensive two-point conversion to give Aurora a 28-23 lead with just 3:42 to play.
