    Assistant Coach

Zack Skog joined the Aurora University baseball coaching staff in the fall of 2015. 2021 will mark his 10th season overall in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC), and 6th with the Spartans after spending four seasons at NACC opponent Wisconsin Lutheran College.

In his five years as a member of the Spartans coaching staff, AU has posted a 124-63 overall record with back to back NACC Tournament Championships in 2018 and 2019, and appearances in the 2018 and 2019 NCAA Division III Baseball Regionals. AU’s 35 wins during the 2019 season is also tied for the 4th best single season record in program history.

Skog works with the Spartan outfielders, and coached one of the 2019 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. III Gold Glove Team Outfield Award Winners, Davis Purviance. Purviance was also named to both the D3baseball.com Midwest and ABCA Midwest All-Region 2nd Team (OF) during his Gold Glove season in 2019.

Skog also coached former Spartan outfielder AJ Gill during the 2018-2020 seasons. Gill was named to both D3baseball.com Midwest and ABCA Midwest All-Region 1st Team (OF) in 2019, before signing a professional contract with the Chicago White Sox in June of 2020.

He assists Coach Stevens with the Spartan offense focusing on hitting and base running.

During his time at WLC, Skog was a four-year NACC Scholar-Athlete. On the field he hit .268 with 26 runs scored, 31 runs batted in, eight doubles and one triple. Wisconsin Lutheran set or tied the previous record for wins in a season in three of Skog’s four seasons as a Warrior, while also achieving three straight winning seasons for the first time in program history (2013-2015.) The 2013-2015 seasons account for the program’s 3rd, 6th, and 4th best seasons for winning percentage respectively. The 2013 team also won three games in WLC’s first and only NACC Tournament appearance to date, including a win over AU, eventually advancing to the championship round.

A native of Hampshire, Illinois, Skog received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Wisconsin Lutheran College in 2015. He works as a Sr. Marketing Representative for Philadelphia Insurance Companies based out of Naperville, IL.Â
