Rich McElmeel became the Head Coach of the Aurora University women's bowling program prior to the 2018-2019 season and was named the Head Coach of the Spartan men's bowling program when it was announced as AU's 26th varsity sport in January 2025.
McElmeel comes to AU from Plainfield East High School where he served as the boys bowling coach. His teams won six tournament titles, two individual titles, three all-conference bowlers and hold school records for the highest team game (1215) and highest team series (6287).
He earned a bachelors in history with a minor in secondary education from Lewis University. Rich and his wife Cathy have two sons, Connor and Reilly.
