Alex Lowe was named the Head Coach of the AU men and women's cross country programs in February of 2020. Lowe also serves as the assistant coach of the AU men and women's track and field teams coaching the middle distance and distance runners.
In his first season at the lead of the AU cross country programs he was named the NACC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year (2020-2021). He also was named the NACC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year in the 2022 season.
In his time at AU, Spartan distance runners have rewritten the record books. His distance runners have set 12 Aurora track and field school records, and hold another 61 top-10 marks in school history. He coached the first cross country All-American in Aurora history during the 2023 campaign (Deedee Colon Maldonado).Â
Lowe joined AU from southern California and Crescenta Valley High School where he served as an assistant coach for five seasons. As a collegiate runner, Lowe was a member of the Ole Miss (University of Mississippi) track and cross country teams, where he was four-time Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll, and was nominated as the Ole Miss Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2012.Â
A native of Batavia, Illinois, Lowe holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Mississippi.
