Aurora University junior Deterrica Simpkins was named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Student-Athlete of the Week.
 
Simpkins won the 200-meter dash at the Chicagoland Championships. Her time of 25.08 seconds set a new school and conference marks and is the second best time in 2017 in Division III. She also finished third overall and was the top finishing Division III runner in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.79. Her qualifying time of 7.76 in the 60-meter prelim is the sixth best time this year in Division III.
 
Next action for the Spartan women's track and field team comes on Saturday, February 18 when they travel to University of Chicago Margaret Bradley Invitational. Meet time is set for 11:30 a.m. in Chicago, Illinois.
