Throughout the 2020-2021 year, the Aurora University athletic department will highlight the senior student-athletes. The seniors will provide some insight to their time at AU while getting to know them as individuals they have grown into in their time as a Spartan.
Senior Spotlight: Carter Turnquist (Baseball)

What are your plans after graduation? Continue to grow my coaching career
What is your most memorable/best academic experience at AU? Going through the sports management program
What is your most memorable athletic moment at AU? Coming into the conference championship game in the 13th inning my sophomore year. I probably had the highest Earned Run Average on the team and to be able to be put into that position to help win the conference championship against CUC was awesome.
Other than the sport(s) you play; what other sports activity are you good at? Football and golf
Outside of sports, what is your favorite hobby or activity? Love coaching in my free time and giving back to the kids
What AU faculty or staff member had the greatest impact on you and why? Coach DeGeorge had the biggest impact because he showed me a different philosophy to pitching and always on me about changing the way I was pitching.
What do you enjoy most and least about practice? Love how we compete against each other in the fall and in cage matches during the winter but after that, I really do not like the conditioning we have to do
Do you have any pregame rituals? I just have to go through the same routine every pre-game
What advice would you give to underclassmen at AU? Use your time wisely throughout each day. Make sure you have your priorities set!
If you had to listen to one song on repeat forever, what would it be and why? God's Country - Blake Shelton just because it's awesome
What is something that people may not know about you but should? I'm pretty open about everything so I don't think I've kept anything from everyone.
If you could spend an hour each with three people (past or present), who would you choose and why? Kyle Hendricks. Babe Ruth and Joe Maddon. Just to sit down and talk baseball with all of them would be awesome. Seeing it from different perspectives would be eye opening.
