Aurora University quarterback Gavin Zimbelman earned national and conference recognition for his performance in AU's 63-41 victory over Benedictine University this past weekend. 

He was named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week for games played on October 30, 2021, as selected by the league's athletics communications professionals and was selected to the D3football.com Team of the Week.

Zimbelman, a senior quarterback from Manteno, Illinois, accounted for eight of the nine AU touchdowns in the Spartans' 63-41 victory over Benedictine. He completed 31 of 43 passes for 432 yards, seven touchdowns, and a passing efficiency of 210.2. Zimbelman also added 19 yards on 10 carries with a touchdown.

On the season, Zimbelman has 2,206 passing yards (145-of-245 passing) and 32 touchdowns to go along with an average of 15 rushing yards per game and three rushing touchdowns.
