The Aurora University women's cross country senior runner Deedee Colon Maldonado secured U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) all-region honors when the organization announced the recipients today.

Colon Maldonado qualified for the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships with a regional runner-up finish. She raced to the front of the lead pack early on, establishing a great position within the first quarter-mile of the race. She raced strong against some of Division III's best runners as she blazed through the 3-kilometer mark in 10:40. She found herself confidently in second place as the race neared its end. Maldonado finished strong over the final stretch, and secured her spot as the highest regional finisher in Aurora University history. This is her fourth All-Midwest regional honor. 

Colon Maldonado will return to action on Saturday, November 23 as she competes at the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships at Lavern Gibson Championship Course in Terre Haute, Indiana.
