The Aurora University Spartan baseball team had student-athletes named Northern Athletics Conference Baseball Position Player and Pitcher of the Week for the week ending May 15, 2011.

Junior outfielder Josh Davidson (Cypress, Calif./Cypress H.S.) was named the NAC Position Player of the Week, while junior pitcher Anthony Buonamici (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook H.S.) was named the NAC Pitcher of the Week.

Davidson was a big factor in AU's tournament title run as he hit .471 (8-of-17) while extending his AU single-season records in singles and stolen bases. He had four RBIs and stole three bases in three attempts during the NAC tournament. In AU's 12-11 16 inning win in the first game of the tournament over Concordia University Wisconsin, Davidson drove in the two runs in the bottom of the 16th inning as the Spartans were trailing by one run.

Buonamici got the start in the NAC tournament final against Concordia University Chicago and earned the victory in the Spartans' 11-3 win. The right-hander pitched 5-2/3 innings and allowed three runs (two earned) while striking out two.
AU is currently 30-12 overall and 18-4 in the NAC. Thus far on the 2011 season, Davidson is hitting .435 with a team-high 70 hits, including a single-season record 62 singles, six doubles, one triple and one home run. He has 46 runs scored, 35 runs batted in and a team-leading and school single-season record 37-of-42 in stolen bases.

Next action for the Spartan baseball team comes on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, when they play in the 2011 NCAA Division III Baseball Championships. AU will take on the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at 10:00 a.m. at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in Whitewater, Wis.
