The Aurora University Spartan women's soccer team defeated the Benedictine University Eagles 5-1 on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon on Vago Field.
The scoring started very quickly when senior forward
Jessica Novickas scored on a header two minutes into the game off an assist from freshman defender
Britney Schenck. Schenck's pass came directly off a corner kick.
The Spartans struck again in the 22nd minute when sophomore forward Haley Pschirrer scored her fifth goal of the season, the goal was assisted by sophomore midfielder Jordan Joyce.
Ten minutes later the flipped roles when Joyce scored her first goal of the season and Pschirrer assisted her.
Then ten minutes later in the 42ndminute, freshman forward Raquel Rodriguez scored her first collegiate goal, dribbling in from about 45 yards out.
The next goal of the game was scored by the Eagles which broke up the shut out, when freshman forward Rachel Wilson scored her third
goal of the season, she was unassisted.
The Spartans were not done scoring themselves as Rodriguez scored her second goal of the game as well as her career.
Freshman goalkeeper Liz Wong got the victory and played the entire game while only letting one goal penetrate the back of the net.
This victory brings the Spartans to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the NAC. They will take on NAC rival Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday, September 19, at 2:00 p.m. in Mequon, Wisconsin.
