Spartan men finish third behind Schmitt's win.

The Spartan men finished third and the top NAC team.
The AU men'scross country team out ran numerous Northern Athletics Conference schools at the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcon Invitational to finish third Saturday morning in Mequon, Wis. AU finished the
meet two points ahead of the host Falcons

Spartan junior Drew Schmitt led the way for AU, winning the Division III meet with a time of 25:55.3. Freshman Rob Izzo (16th - 27:20.1), senior Mark Sulkin (27th - 27:51.0), freshman Brandon Miller (32nd - 28:03.6) and freshman Nick Cole (40th - 28:28.4) were the top Spartans who scored at the Falcon Invite.

Additional Spartan runners showing well at the meet included junior Morgan Goetschel (49th - 28:54.9), junior Dale Bolthouse (52nd - 29:00.7), freshman Doug Belling (57th - 29:25.6). freshman Mitch Fox (59th - 29:32.1), freshman Roberto Gonzalez (77th - 31:02.4), freshman Stephen
Fuller (84th - 31:34.2), freshman Matt Winterrowd (88th - 32:05.3), freshman Luke Dettlo (93rd - 32:49.2), senior Robert Lopez (94th - 32:52.3), freshman Tom Sears (97th - 33:41.5), freshman Danny Fish (101th - 34:05.8) and freshman Cody Covganka (93th - 34:14.4).

Next action for the Spartan men's cross country teams comes on Friday, Sept. 23 at the Augustana College Brisman-Lundeen Invitational. Meet time is set for the men at 5:00 p.m. in Moline, Ill. at Saukie Golf Course.. “The course is fast and fun and we're definitely ready to roll,” says Coach Ryan Chapman.
