AU’s Davidson named D3baseball.com Preseason All-American

Davidson garnered preseason honors after a stellar 2011 season.
As the Aurora University Spartan baseball team begins preparing for the 2012 season in a few weeks, one Spartan has already been honored by being named to the 2012 D3baseball.com Preseason All-American team.
Senior outfielder Josh Davidson (Cypress, Calif./Cypress H.S.) was named a second-team outfielder on the preseason team following a 2011 campaign that ended with him being recognized as a 2011 D3baseball.com Third-Team All-American.
 
Davidson led the 2011 Spartan offense with a .429 batting average with 72 total hits, a school-record 64 singles, six doubles, one triple, one home run, 48 runs scored, 35 runs batted in and a school single-season record 39-of-44 in stolen bases. He had a .494 slugging percentage, .489 on-base percentage and was a Northern Athletics Conference First-Team All-Conference selection, American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings Division III baseball Third-Team All-American and First-Team All-Region selection.
 
The Aurora University Spartan baseball team finished the 2011 season with a 30-14 record and NAC tournament title, making its 19th NCAA tournament appearance in the 2011 NCAA Division III Baseball Championships and second appearance in as many years.
