Men's Cross Country

Spartans show well at Jim Drews Invitational

In a meet that had some of the top cross country teams in the region, including the Spartans of Aurora University, the AU men finished 23rd at the Jim Drews Invitational at the University of Wisconsin Lacrosse.

While the Spartans were competing in Wisconsin, junior Jordan Tripp traveled to Wilmington College in Ohio and finished 80th out of 380 runners with a time of 26:53.44.

As he has done all season, senior Drew Schmitt led the Spartans finishing 59th with a time of 26:33.6. The Spartans had 22 runners participate in the meet including Schmitt. Sophomore Brandon Miller finished 188th with a time of 27:44.2, freshman Fabian Cabrera finished 324th with a time of 27:50.8, freshman Grady Schroeder finished 470th with a time of 28:10.2 and freshman Nick Quiroz rounded out the scoring Spartans with his time of 28:20.9 (621st).

The remaining Spartans who ran and gained valuable regional and national experience included Calvin Robinson (28:21.6), Nick Cole (28:43.3), Pete Jaros (28:44.7), Doug Belling (28:58.8), Kevin Crozier (28:59.0), Nate Rehkopf (29:06.9), Roberto Gonzalez (29:13.5), Cody McSorley (29:44.4), Sean Leaf (29:45.8), Morgan Goetschel (29:57.8), Aron Nava (30:02.7), Kyle Kayzar (30:06.0), Mitch Fox (30:28.7), Nico Gonzalez (31:06.8), Dale Bolthouse (31:52.2), Vontrel Hawkins (33:04.9) and Michael Miller (33:13.8).

The next action for men's cross country team comes on Saturiday, October 27, 2012, when they travel to the 2012 Northern Athletics Conference Championships. Meet time is set for 11:00 a.m. at the campus of Concordia University Wisconsin on Mequon, Wis..
