The Aurora University football team has jumped on board to show support for Breast Cancer Awareness during the month of October which is National Breast Cancer Awareness month.
The Spartan football team will have a pink ribbon decal on the AU helmets and players will wear pink socks. Additionally, some Spartans will don pink gloves.
"Almost everyone affiliated with the Spartan football team has been impacted in some way by some form of cancer or breast cancer itself,” said Head Coach Mark Walsh. “To a person, our team and staff felt strongly that they would like to support the awareness effort in battling this devastating disease. I am proud of our players and staff that they are as passionate about this topic as they are."
The Spartans are currently 3-2 on the season and 2-0 in the Northern Athletics Conference after defeating Benedictine University 41-30 on AU's homecoming Saturday, October 6. Next action for the Spartan football team comes on Saturday, October 13 when they host Wisconsin Lutheran College. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. on Vago Field.
