Men's Cross Country

AU men run well at competitive Brooks Invitational

On Saturday October 19, 2013  the Aurora University men's cross country team competed in the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational 8k race at the Lake Breeze Golf Course. AU finished 25th out of 37 competitive teams from around the country. 

The AU men finished the race with an impressive amount of individual (11) and season (14) best times on the day.  

Freshman Matt Meyers was the first finisher for AU placing 127th out of 566 total runners with a time of 26:19.69. Other top finishers for AU were Jimmy Baeskens (170th- 26:37.76), Calvin Robinson (261st - 27:18.75), Nick Quiroz (275th- 27:26.33), Pete Jaros (302nd- 27:40.54), Brandon Miller (325th- 27:52.38), and Matt Swanson (349th- 28:04.09).

Other race finishers for the men were Nick Cole (353rd- 28:05.54), D.J. Wolfram (368th- 28:16.40), Malik Dorris (381st- 28:23.87), Kevin Crozier (383rd - 28:24.72), Ben Ervin (386th- 28:28.68), Doug Belling (391st- 28:30.41), Alex Duncan (409th- 28:42.55), Gonzo Gonzalez (428th- 29:00.06), Nick Shaw (432nd- 29:03.93), Kun Deng (434th - 29:06.18), Ryan Fromm (445th- 29:16.36), Kyle Kayzar (446th- 29:20.36), Luke Miller (463rd 29:35.22), Cole Goshert (470th- 29:43.03),Ricky Perkins (477th- 29:50.22), Josh Sopczak (491st- 30:16.78), Marlon Morales (496th- 30:22.94), Alex Ondler  (506th-30:54.89), Luis Salgado (514th- 31:12.04), Mitch Fox (522nd- 31:36.32), Kevin Price (523rd- 31:39.76), Aron Nava (527th-32:05.61), Alex Carter (530th- 32:11.97), John John Reyes (558th- 34:57.55), and Marcus Artwell  (566th- 39:18.22).

 "We revealed the good depth our team has. Many guys stepped up and contributed who usually do not," said Spartan captain Nick Cole. "We are confident going into conference that we can defend our title."

Next action for the Spartan men's cross country team comes on Saturday, November 2 when they compete in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championships. Meet time is set for 11:00 a.m. in West Allis, Wis. at Greenfield Park.
