During the first half the Spartans dominated the flow of play as AU generated a few chances of their own, connecting on 12 shots in the first half but were unable to find the back of the net. Going into the half the Spartans held a 12-5 advantage in shots but were deadlocked on the scoreboard.

AU continued their dominance over the game as the second half began. Sophomore forward Nicci Bermudes pressured the Calvin defense throughout but was unable to get a shot past the Knight goalkeeper. Regulation ended with the teams still tied at 0-0, despite AU's 22-8 shot advantage.

After the teams played a scoreless first overtime period the teams headed to a second extra time session. The Spartans dominated the action in their offensive zone before a long clearing ball was played to Calvin's Paige Capel. Capel was able to finish the chance, over the out-stretched arms of AU keeper Rachel Warnock, and give Calvin the win.

With the loss, AU ends the season at 18-3 overall, while claiming both the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference regular season and tournament chanmpionships.
