Box Score The Aurora University women's soccer team claimed the 2013 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference tournament championship
Saturday evening in Madison, Wis.. The Spartans shutout Edgewood College with a score of 1-0 to secure AU's seventh NACC Tournament crown in eight seasons and the fifth consecutive time.
The two teams played to a scoreless first-half with the Spartans out-shooting Edgewood 7-4. Spartan freshman goalkeeper Rachel Warnock had two saves in the half.
As the second-half opened up, the Spartan offense came to life. 1:35 into the second-half, senior
Jenee Lange, the 2013 NACC Defensive Player of the Year, took a free kick that was deflected off the cross bar and to the foot of junior
Brittany Roydhouse. Roydhouse found the back of the next for the games only goal.
The Spartans continued to dominate play but were unable to find the back of the net the remainder of the game. AU out-shot Edgewood 13-2 in the second-half with Warnock saving the only two shots.
Warnock was credited with the win in goal for the Spartans improving her record to
6-0 on the year. With the win the Spartans improve to
18-2 overall while Edgewood is now
15-4-1.
