The Aurora University Spartan men's Track and Field competed on Saturday, March 22 at the 72
nd annual Vikings Olympics at Augustana College. AU finished third overall in team points. “Despite the poor weather conditions, today turned out to be a good day,” said head coach
Ryan Chapman. “More importantly, it was a day to get some baseline marks for the outdoor season.”
Freshman
Wade Robinson finished seventh overall in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.30 seconds. Robinson later finished 13
th in the 200 with a time of 23.14 seconds. “Wade will be named our men's track athlete of the meet,” said Chapman.
Freshman
Kalmon Stokes finished second the 400 Intermediate hurdles with a time of 56.76 seconds. Stokes' time placed him second all-time on AU's record list. The 72
nd Annual Viking Olympics was Stokes' first track meet of the season. Being a member of AU's men's basketball team, he did not participate during AU's indoor season.
Sophomore
Loren Iwanicki finished third overall in the high jump with a height of 1.90 meters. “Loren has only improved since coming back from taking last season off,” said assistant coach
Rachael Chapman.
Senior
Alex Hoyle and freshman
Alex Duncan both finished fifth in the 400 and 800, respectively.
Next action for the Spartan women's track and field team comes on Friday, April 5 when they travel to the University of Wisconsin Whitewater Invite. Meet time is set for 11:00 a.m. in Whitewater, Wisconsin.
