The Aurora University Spartan men's Track and Field competed on Saturday, April 13th at the Benedictine Eagle Invitational. AU finished fifth overall in team points. “This was a huge meet today,” said head coach
Ryan Chapman. “There were a lot of teams here today competing against our athletes.”
Freshman
Kalmon Stokes won the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 55.77 seconds. Stokes later finished sixth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.17 seconds. “I know that I need to get my trail leg down,” said Stokes. “I am extremely excited for our conference meet at the end of the season.”
Sophomore
Nick Cole finished third in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:59.61. Cole's time would set an AU record. “I was doing the math in my head as I came down the home stretch,” said Cole.
Freshman
Nick Williams finished fourth in the long jump with a distance of 6.48 meters. Williams also finished eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.28 meters.
Sophomore
Loren Iwanicki finished seventh in the high jump with a final height of 1.85 meters.
Next action for the Spartan men's track and field team comes on Thursday, April 18 and Friday, April 19 at the Concordia University Chicago Cougar Invitational. Meet time is set for 2 pm on Thursday and 10 am on Friday in River Forest, Ill.
