The Aurora University women's basketball traveled north of the border to Beloit College in the 2014-2015 season opener on Saturday afternoon.
AU jumped out to an early lead and built a 10-point advantage midway through the first half on a jumper by
Shannon Koski. The Spartans had the hot hand early, making the first eight shots they would attempt.
Beloit began to chip away though at the Spartan lead and when the teams went into halftime, AU trailed by four at 41-37.
In the second half, Beloit was able to build a 12 point lead but AU this time made the comeback, cutting the lead to two (68-66) with six minutes to play but that was as close as the Spartans would get.
Beloit finished the game on a 10-5 run to seal the Spartans fate in a 78-71 final.
Koski led AU with 39 points,
Alex Hultine had eight points and eight assists,
Rachel Rivera had 10 points and
Morgan Ricketts has nine rebounds,
AU is 0-1 to start the season and the next action for the Spartan women's basketball team comes on
Friday, November 21 when they play in the Wheaton College Beth Baker Classic. AU plays Wheaton at 3:00 p.m. in Wheaton, Illinois.
