For the first time in four NCAA Division III hockey contests the Aurora University hockey team held a lead at Marian University on Wednesday evening in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
Early into the contest, 46 seconds to be exact, the Spartans got on the scoreboard and claining the first lead in the brief history of the men's program at the NCAA level. Defensemen
Cameron Choate tallied the goal and was assisted by center Mike Mikulin.
Marian tied the game up almost eight minutes later and that would be the score as the teams went into the intermission.
In the second period, Marian scored five times, including four straight to make the score 5-1 before AU winger
Andrew Bergquist scored as he was assisted by Choate and
Ryan Davlantes.
The home team would score once more in the second period and then two more times in the third for the 8-2 AU loss.
Next action for the Spartan hockey team comes on
Saturday, November 29 when they travel to Milwaukee School of Engineering. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
