Spartans fall at Carthage 4-1

The Aurora University baseball team lost 4-1 in a non-conference match-up with Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis.
 
AU could only manage two hits in the game, one each from Zach Flores and Adam Lipscomb. The lone Spartan run scored in the seventh inning when Jared Swain reached on an error. With two outs, Flores got the first Spartan hit that drove in Swain but Flores was thrown out on the play trying to advance to second, which ended the inning.

Carthage got two runs in each of the first two innings off AU starting pitcher Christian Smith. He allowed six hits and the four runs in three innings of work. AU pitchers Brent Bergeson, Ottavio Dattolo, Cody Love and Henry Erickson shut down Carthage allowing only one hit over the final five innings.

With the loss, AU is now 10-24 overall. Next action for the Spartan baseball team comes on Saturday, April 26 when they travel to Rockford University. Game one is set for 2:00 p.m. in Rockford, Ill.
