The Aurora University women's tennis team took to the road on Saturday to take on Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference opponents, Edgewood College and Marian University.
AU went 1-1 on the day, falling at Edgewood 9-0 before knocking off Marian 9-0.
The Spartans rebounded nicely from a tough start to the day as the won all but 10 singles points after sweeping doubles action. Senior
Christy Savellano and freshman
Jordyn Withey both won their matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores with
Jamie Huff and
Melanie Findlay winning 6-0, 6-1.
Micaela Mascha won 6-1, 6-1 and
Abby Matayka won 7-5, 6-1.
With the split, AU is now 2-2 overall and 2-2 in the NACC. Next action for the Spartan women's tennis team comes on
Tuesday, September 9 when they host North Central College. Match time is set for 3:00 p.m. at Washington Middle School in Aurora, Illinois.
