Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Spartan men have win streak snapped at MSOE

With sub zero tempatures in the air, the Aurora University men's basketball team took on the Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders in Milwaukee on Wednesday night. Cold shooting from the free throw line did in the Spartans as they fell 80-76 for the first NACC road loss of the season.

The first half saw an evenly played contest with both teams holding leads before the halftime buzzer sounded with MSOE holding a 40-38 lead.

MSOE opened up the second half with a 20-8 run to open up a 14 point lead with 13:30 to play at 60-46.

AU still trailed by 12 (64-52) with 10:30 to play when the Spartans began their comeback. With 1:20 to play, AU found themselves down by just two (74-72) after a lay-up from junior Kalmon Stokes.

Two points is as close as the Spartans would come down the stretch though before falling 80-76.

Stokes led AU with 14 points as six of the eight Spartans to score were in double figures. Free throws did in the Spartans on the night as AU went 13-of-26 from the line.

With the loss, AU is now 10-4 overall and 8-2 in the NACC. Next action for the Spartan men's basketball team comes on Saturday, January 10, 2015 when they host Wisconsin Lutheran College. Game time is set for 4:15 p.m. in Thornton Gymnasium.
