Aurora University Assistant Athletic Director for Student Programming and Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Kylor Berkman has been sporting a noticeable addition to his appearance the last couple weeks. Berkman has been growing out a beard to help raise awareness and donations for the HEADstrong Foundation. Berkman is not alone in the battle as his Spartan men's lacrosse team is working in conjunction to raise $1,500.

HEADstrong Foundation is an essential resource that serves the cancer community by granting direct financial assistance to those financially impacted as a result of the disease and providing complimentary long-term housing and amenities for those traveling to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for cancer related treatments through Nick's House™. The organization also funds innovative cancer research through the Nicholas E. Colleluori Lymphoma research fund, serves family meals and offers outlets of entertainment, provides fresh groceries to patients being discharged from lengthy hospital stays, delivers comfort kits to newly hospitalized patients preparing for treatment or transplant, and lends an arm of support through their peer-to-peer advocacy group.

"Whether it be a friend, family member or loved one, we have all been affected by cancer to some degree," said Berkman. "I remember standing by my grandmother's bedside when she lost her battle. This has something that has hit close to home within the Spartan lacrosse family as well. We are fortunate to have our health and this is a chance to raise awareness and help those that are affected."
