Spartan women win shootout to advance to NACC Tournament Championship

The Aurora University women's soccer program headed to Mequon, Wisconsin on Wednesday afternoon to take on the top-seeded Falcons of Concordia University Wisconsin in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament semi-final. The Spartans and Falcons played to a 1-1 tie through two overtimes with the Spartans advancing by winning the shootout by a 4-2 score.

FINAL SCORE:  Aurora University 1; Concordia University Wisconsin 1 – (AU wins shootout 4-2)
LOCATION: Mequon, Wisconsin – Fitting Field
RECORDS: Aurora University 12-7-1 overall; Concordia University Wisconsin 14-2-3 overall

HOW IT HAPPENED
AU scored early in the first-half. Hannah Scahill scored at 9:51.
At 57:40, CUW's Pfannerstill tied the game 1-1.
The Spartans converted all four of their shootout shots while CUW only converted two shots.

OUTSIDE THE BOX
AU will play in the NACC Tournament Championship for the 10th consecutive season.
The Spartans will shoot to win the NACC crown for the ninth time in 10 seasons.

Hannah Scahill had one goal.
Caitlin deRuiter had 10 saves.
Alexis Bejarano, Nicci Bermudes, Samantha McLaughlin and Alisha Oseguera all converted shots in the shootout.

FOR THE FOES
Carley Pfannerstill had one goal.
Tabitha Ortiz had seven saves.

The Spartans will travel to Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday, November 7 in the 2015 NACC Tournament Championship. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
