For the third consecutive season the Aurora University women's indoor track and field team ran away with the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championship at the NACC Indoor Championships on Saturday, February 28. The 2015 Spartans finished with 244 points, 119 points ahead of the second-place finisher from Concordia University Wisconsin.
AU junior
Talia Sheedlo and freshman
Deterrica Simpkins were two of a large number of Spartans that led AU to the NACC crown but Sheedlo and Simpkins stood out a tad more. Sheedlo was named the NACC Overall Athlete and Field Athlete of the Meet while Simpkins was named the NACC Freshman and Track Athlete of the Meet. Head Coach
Ryan Chapman was named the NACC Coach of the Year.
Sheedlo scored 37 points over five events while Simpkins accounted for 20 pooints plus 10 more as part of a relay team.
When the final results were in, AU had 12 individual conference champions (16 events make up the Championships) led by three from Sheedlo, the triple jump (10.99 meters), long jump (5.26 meters) and 55 meter hurdles (8.57 with 8.45 in the prelims). In the hurdles and triple jump, Sheedlo set new AU records. Simpkins won the 200 meter (25.98) and 55 meter dash (7.41). Simpkins was also part of the 4x400 meter relay team along with
Breana Balaskovits,
Lisa Rodriguez and
Liz Canaday who won with a time of 4:08.98.
Seniors
Loretta Johnson set a new AU record in the 400 meter run with her winning time of 58.82, emily Paull won two events to garner 20 points, the mile and 3,000. She set a new record in the mile with a time of 5:08.65 and won the 3,000 with a time of 10:30.87.
Christina Luptak rounds out the senior record setters with her winning time in the 5,000 meter of 18:03.47.
Jenna Taylor won in the high jump (1.56 meters) and
Lena Palmer won the 800 meter run with her time of 2:25.46.
These seven women and the relay team were among the 13 Spartans to medal and 25 individuals and two relays to tally points in the runaway victory.

Brit March (second in the mile run and 3,000 meter), Johnson (second in the 200 meter), Rodriguez (second in the 400 meter), Luptak (third in the 3,000 meter), distance medley relay team of Palmer,
Erica Brown,
Marisol Lazaro and
Ariana Espino (second),
Taylor Jefford (third in the triple jump) and
Hannah Meager (third in the shot put.
