In a matchup of two of the top teams in the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference on Tuesday afternoon in Mequon, Wisconsin, the Aurora University Spartans fell to the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons 16-7.
AU fell behind 2-0 before top scorer and reigning MWLC offensive player of the week
Kenny Hughes scored with an assist from
Chloe Madison to cut the deficit in half at 2-1. CUW would score five more times though before
Lexie Wright scored an unassisted goal.
Hughes scored the only other AU goal of the first half, man-up, while CUW scored six times and the Spartans trailed 13-3 at halftime.
In the second half, AU would out score CUW 4-3 with goals from Hughes, Wright and two from
Rachel Cochran.
When the final horn sounded, AU came up short 16-7. With the loss, AU is now 3-5 overall and 1-1 in the MWLC. Next action for the Spartan women's lacrosse team comes on
Friday, April 3 when they travel to Wartburg College. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. in Waverly, Iowa.
