The Aurora University track and field teams competed at the Benedictine University Invitational and the Chicagoland Championships this past weekend. The AU women finished fourth and the men were sixth at the Benedictine Eagle Invitational with individuals running at the College of Dupage who hosted the Outdoor Chicagoland Championships.
The Spartan women scored 72 points and were the second scoring Division III team behind Illinois Welseyan while the AU men scored 57 points and were the third scoring Division III team behind Carthage College and Wheaton College.
AU freshman
Deterrica Simpkins led a group of Spartan record setters as she set AU marks in the 100 (12.13) and both AU and NACC marks in the 200 (24.58) and led a 4x100 (47.38) and 4x400 (3:53.18) meter relay that set both records.
On the men's side,
Leonard Becerra set an AU record in the pole vault (4.40) and
Bobby Cooks set a new AU mark in the 110 meter hurdles (14.64) with both Spartans winning the event.
