On alumni day in which AU celebrated the 25th anniversary of the 1990 Spartans finished second at the NCAA Division III World Series, the 2015 Spartans swept Wisconsin Lutheran College, winning 7-6 and 8-3. Between games, some of the 1990 Spartans were recognized in a special ceremony.
Game One

The Spartans took a 7-0 lead before the visiting Warriors scored six runs in the ninth inning to put stress on the home crowd. AU scored three runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and three in the seventh with a combination of timely hitting and manufacturing runs with stolen bases and multiple squeeze plays.
Eight of the nine AU hitters collected a hit, led by
Adam Lipscomb (three for five),
Ryan Rybakowski and
Tanner Oymaian (two for four), and Mike Chervin (one for three).
Colin Hart earned the win, pitching 8-2/3 innings.
Game Two

The offense continued to pound out hits with all nine starters collecting a base hit and pitcher
Cody Love three a complete game for the win. Wisconsin Lutheran would score first for a 1-0 lead and then led again 2-1 after the top of the fourth. But AU scored three runs in the fourth to take a lead they would not give up. The Spartans added runs in the fifth, seventh and eighth innings for the 8-3 win.
Chervin continued to swing a hot bat going two for four with a double and Jeff Gersch was two for two with a double also.
With the sweep, AU is now 18-13 overall and 7-7 in the NACC. Next action for the Spartan baseball team comes on
Sunday, April 19, 2015 when they travel to Concordia University Chicago in a NACC doubleheader. Game one is set for 1:00 p.m. in River Forest, Illinois.
