A scheduled Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader for the Aurora University baseball team turned into a single game due to rain at Concordia University Chicago on Sunday afternoon. AU fell to CUC 6-1.
AU fell behind in the third inning 1-0 and then trailed 5-0 after four innings. Spartan starter
Kyle Manske gave way to
Aron Okamoto in the fourth and Okamoto held the Cougars in check, allowing the Spartans a chance to make a come back.
The Spartans would get one run in the fifth, with two outs
Danny Walczak doubled and moved to third on a single from
Tanner Oymaian.
Dillon Popovich followed with a single to center to score Walczak. But that was all the offense the Spartans would muster and Concordia added a run in the seventh for the final score of 6-1.
With the loss, AU is now 18-14 overall and 7-8 in the NACC. The rained out game two is now scheduled as the next action for the Spartan baseball team which comes on
