The Aurora University men's and women's track and field teams took on the field at the Concordia University Chicago Cougar Invitational with the Spartan women winning the meet and the men finishing second.
AU's women had three meet champions to win the meet with 152 points. Senior
Emily Paull winning the 5,000 meter with an AU and NACC record time of 17:43.82, junior
Talia Sheedlo won the 100 meter hurdles with an AU and NACC record time of 15.07 and freshman
Deterrica Simpkins won the 400 meter with a time of 57.66.
The AU men finished second but were the top Division III scoring team with 104.5 points. Spartans
Leonard Becerra and
Taylor Coleman were the highest finishers of the day for AU as they each brought home second-place finishes. Becerra in the pole vault at 3.95 meters and Coleman in the 110 meter hurdles at 15.84.

Next action for the Spartan track teams comes at multiple meets this week. Some Spartans will compete in the Drake Relays on Thursday, April 23 through Saturday, April 25 while other Spartans will compete on Friday, April 24 at the Benedictine University Twilight Invitational. Meet time is set for 3:00 p.m. in Lisle, Illinois.
