The Aurora University men's lacrosse team traveled to Cornell College for the first match-up between the two programs and AU scored at will throughout before posting a 20-4 victory.
The Spartans dominated all aspects of the game, jumping out to a 4-0 lead after one quarter with two goals from
Jason Koziol with assists from
Danny Loyall and
Garret Rosiek, with Loyall adding a goal on a Rosiek assist and
Max Obriecht rounding out the scoring in the opening period.
Obriecht and Loyall scored the first two goals of the second quarter with Rosiek adding another assist on the Loyall tally. Cornell finally scored at 6:52 but two goals from Rosiek (
Will Bradshaw and
JK Torres assists) and the hat trick from Loyall (Rosiek assist) gave the Spartans the 9-1 halftime lead.
AU out scored Cornell 7-2 in the third quarter and put the game away heading into the fourth. Bradshaw opened the scoring with Obriecht collecting the assist. Koziol scored four times and Rosiek scored twice. Rosiek, Obriecht, Loyall and
Bailey Smith tallied assists.
Rounding out the scoring in the final quarter was Austin Henson (
Nick Glaser assist),
JD Kettle,
Joe Ebel and
Tanner Lerdahl.
Cameron Brooks earned the win, playing the first-half, allowing one goal with five saves and then gave way to
Brian Richter in the second half. Richter had four saves.
With the win, AU is now 8-6 overall and 4-0 in the MLC. Next action for the Spartan men's lacrosse comes on Satur
day, April 11 when they host Augustana College. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. on Vago Field.
