In a matchup of two of the top teams in the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference all season, the Aurora University Spartans and Concordia University Wisconsin Falcon squared off on Saturday afternoon in Mequon, Wisconsin, for the MWLC Tournament Championship. AU fell to the Falcons 17-7.
AU fell behind 4-0 10 minutes into the game but Spartan leading scorer
Kenny Hughes scored back to back goals with an assist from
Rachel Cochran to cut the deficit in half at 4-2. CUW would score two more times though before the first half came to an end. Heading into halftime, AU trailed 6-2.
In the second half, AU would be out scored by CUW 11-5 with AU goals coming from
Chloe Madison (two), Cochran (two) and
Danielle Morgan with Cochran assisting on her goal..
When the final horn sounded, AU came up short 17-7 in their first MWLC Tournament Championship contest. The AU women's lacrosse team concludes the 2015 season with an 11-7 overall record and were 6-1 in the MWLC. The 11 wins is a school record for the Spartans in the programs third season.
