The Aurora University women's tennis team hosted Edgewood College and Marian University on Saturday, September 12 at the Washington Middle School courts. AU went 1-1, falling in the opening match to Edgewood 8-1 before rebounding to knock off Marian 7-2.
Spartan freshman
Haley Cooley won the lone match against Edgewood at No. 5 singles, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 12-10.
After a short break, the Spartans took on Marian and fell behind early 2-1 through doubles play. No. 1 doubles of
Chloe Madison and
Micaela Mascha won 8-2. With singles action beginning, the Spartans awoke, sweeping all six matches.
Madison won 6-4, 6-2, Mascha won 6-2, 7-5,
Melanie Findlay won 6-4, 6-8,10-5, Jordan Withey won 6-2, 6-1, Cooley won 6-4, 6-3 and
Jamie Huff won 6-4, 6-0.
With the split, AU is now 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the NACC. Next action for the Spartan women's tennis team comes on
Saturday, September 19 when they travel to Alverno College (10:00 a.m.) and Wisconsin Lutheran College (2:00 p.m.) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
