Spartan men pitch shutout at Lawrence

The Aurora University men's soccer team took to the road on Saturday evening and shutout Lawrence University 2-0 in Appleton, Wisconsin. An early goal was all the Spartans would need but added an early second-half goal to seal the night's scoring.

HOW IT HAPPENED
AU jumped out to a 1-0 lead very early in the first half with a goal by junior Jacob Goehring. The Spartans dominated the stat sheet in the first-half but could only musted a single goal. An early second-half goal from freshman Xavier Ortiz gave AU a nice lead which held up for the shutout win.
 
FOR THE SPARTANS
- Jacob Goehring scored the game-winning goal 4:38 into the game.
- Xavier Ortiz scored his first collegiate goal 8:13 into the second-half.
- Junior goalkeeper Zach McFarland had a light work night, only needing to make one save.
- The Spartans out shot Lawrence 11 to 3 with a 6 to 1 advantage in shots on goal.
 
FOR THE FOES
- Keanan Wilson had the only Viking shot on goal.
- Joe Krivit had four saves in a losing effort in goal.
